The parable of the prodigal son in Luke chapter 15 is one of the many stories in the Bible which illustrates how merciful our God is. God is merciful and loving. The blood of Jesus Christ which he shed on the cross is the joy we have because through it, we are redeemed. If God does not forgive sins, it means the purpose of the blood Jesus Christ shed on the cross of Calvary is nothing. The Bible tells us that the mercies of God never come to an end. They are new every morning. From the beginning of creature till now, we have seen how merciful God is. When you confess your sins, he is faithful and just to forgive you your sins and cleanse you from you sins. Psalms 86:5 says ” You LORD are forgiving and good, abounding in love to all who call on you.” Ephesians 6:4 describes God as one who is rich in mercy. Psalms 103:8 says the LORD is compassionate and gracious, slow to anger, abounding in love.
God is ever merciful and he loves us so much that he sent his only begotten son Jesus Christ to come to earth and die for our sins. The Bible tells us in John 3:16 that for God so loved the world that he sent his only begotten son Jesus Christ that whosoever believes in him shall not perish but have everlasting life. God did not send his son to destroy the world but that the world through him might be saved. God does not want us to perish. He loves us dearly. Micah 7:18 says that God is delighted to show mercy, he does not retain his anger forever. 2 Peter 3:9 says ” The LORD is not slow to fulfill his promise as some count slowness, but he is patient toward you, not wishing that any should perish, but that all should reach repentance.”
Whenever we fall short of his glory, we should ask for mercy, for sin make us fall short of his glory. God forgives sin. It is in his nature because he is a merciful God. God frowns at sin. God forgives sin but you must first ask him to forgive you before he does. Hebrew 4:16 ” Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need”. I do not know what wrong it is that you have done, you might have wronged God or man and it could be by thoughts, desires, or habits and it weighs you.Sometimes you tell yourself that you deserve God’s punishment.
The bible tells us that God does not treat us as our sins deserve or repay us according to out iniquities. For as high as the heavens are above the earth, so great is his love for those who , fear him, as far as the east is from the west, so far has he removed our transgressions from us. Hebrews 4:16 “So let us come boldly to the throne of our gracious God. There we will receive his mercy, and we will find grace to help us when we need it most. God’s mercies are everlasting. God’s mercy is manifested to whom he will. He can decide not to forgive you because you cannot force him to. His mercy is manifested to those who fear him, to those who are his people. It is manifested to those who really need it.
1st John 1:9 says that if we confess our sins, God is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. Whenever we ask for forgiveness by confession, God is always ready to forgive us. He loves us. Everything about God is love. We are alive today owing to the Mercies of God. Lamentations 3:22 says that “the steadfast love of the LORD never ceases,; his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning”. Deuteronomy 4:21 says for the LORD our God is a merciful God. God always forgives sins because God is good. He wants the best for us. He does not want us to be condemned. He wants eternal life for us that was why Jesus Christ shed his precious blood for us.No matter how bad what you have done, no matter the type of life you have lived, ask God for forgiveness today and start living in the mercies of God. God only forgives you when you ask him for forgiveness. When you ask in sincerity, it shows how remorseful you are and it moves God to forgiving you. No matter how horrible it is what you have done, confess with sincerity and God will cleanse you as white as snow.
Anytime you sincerely confess your sins, believe in your heart that God has forgiven your sins and made you clean. Do not have any fear that your sins are still there rather begin to live a new life worthy of his glory.
