MY ENEMY HAS FALLEN!!!: SHOULD ONE REJOICE OVER THE FALL OF ITS ENEMY?
When the issue of an enemy is raised, the first question that comes to mind is ” Who really is an enemy”?. Do we really know our enemies?. Is it someone who had made some words of threat against us, Is it the person who had promised to deal with us severely etc? The fact that somebody threatened us with some words, does that make that person an enemy?. What if those words were mere words uttered out of anger? Who then do we captioned an enemy?
Whatever our definition of an enemy is, the fact that a person has said or done one or more things against us, does that make the person the real enemy? If you are too sure of tagging someone your enemy, do have it in the back of your mind that, that person might really mean no harm against you. A lot of times some words are being uttered out of anger with no ulterior motive attached to it. Do you also know that , that person whom you call your friend, spouse, child, neighbour etc might be your worst enemy?
My dear friend, the bottom line is, only God in heaven knows your enemy. Do not even suspect anybody to be one. You are not God so you cannot know your enemy. Remember what one of the ten commandments says in Exodus 20:16 “You must not tell lies about other people”.
Tagging someone an enemy when really that person is not
one, make you a liar and by doing so you have broken one of the commandments of God by lying against that person. Do not be too sure of tagging someone an enemy for by doing so you may be tagging an angel an enemy.
We must learn to live peacefully with others using as our guide MATTHEW 10:16B which says “be you therefore wise as serpents, and harmless as doves”.
Love everybody and hate no one and put solid trust on God alone for he alone cannot fail. He is an unchangeable God for in him is everything. In this regard, we must take as an example David in the bible who King Saul desperately wanted to kill but though he had many chances to kill King Saul but he never raised his sword on him.
We must never rejoice over the fall of anybody. Even though it is the fall of that person whom we believe to be an enemy. Remember the bible says that we should forgive those that wrong us and bless those that curse us.
BIBLE VERSES ON ENEMIES:
MATTHEW 5:44-48 “But I tell you, love your enemies. Pray for those who treat you badly. If you do this, you will be children who are truly like your Father in heaven. He lets the sun rise for all people, whether they are good or bad. He sends rain to those who do right and to those who do wrong. If you love only those who love you, why should you get a reward for that? Even the tax collectors do that. And if you are nice only to your friends, you are no better than anyone else. Even the people who don’t know God are nice to their friends. What I am saying is that you must be perfect, just as your Father in heaven is perfect”.
Do not rejoice and gloat when your enemy falls, And do not let your heart be glad [in self-righteousness] when he stumbles,Or the Lord will see your gloating and be displeased, And turn His anger away from your enemy.
“Bless those who persecute you; bless and do not curse. Rejoice with those who rejoice, and weep with those who weep. Be of the same mind toward one another. Repay no one evil for evil. If it is possible, as much as depends on you, Beloved, rather give place to wrath; for it is written, “Vengeance is Mine, I will repay,” says the Lord. Therefore“If your enemy is hungry, feed him; If he is thirsty, give him a drink; For in so doing you will heap coals of fire on his head.”Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good”.
1 PETER 3:8-9
Finally, all of you be of one mind, having compassion for one another; love as brothers, be tenderhearted, be courteous; not returning evil for evil or reviling for reviling, but on the contrary LUKE 6:27-31
“But I say to you who hear: Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, bless those who curse you, and pray for those who spitefully use you. To him who strikes you on the one cheek, offer the other also. And from him who takes away your cloak, do not withhold your tunic either. Give to everyone who asks of you. And from him who takes away your goods do not ask them back. And just as you want men to do to you, you also do to them likewise.
We must live peacefully with all men and let God who sees everything fight against those that persecute you. If really there is an enemy, Can you really fight for yourself? Remember vengeance is of the lord and not yours. The bible says evil shall be the lot of the wicked. Remember PROVERBS 26:27 ” Whoever digs a pit will fall into it; if someone rolls a stone, it will roll back on them”. Ours is to live a sin free life while living peacefully with all men and God will take over the rest from there. The bible tells us to pray for our enemies, do you know that if they refuse to change from their wickedness, the prayer you make for them would be a curse on them? Please meditates on the following scriptures, these scriptures will help us live peacefully with others:
EXODUS 23:22 The Lord said “If you listen to what he says and do everything I tell you, then I will be an enemy to all of your enemies. I will be against everyone who is against you”.
We must also not forget PROVERBS 11:21 which says “Be sure of this: The wicked will not go unpunished, but those who are righteous will go free”.
ISAIAH 48:22 “There is no peace,” says the LORD, “for the wicked.”
ISAIAH 3:11 “Woe to the wicked! DisasterThey will be paid back for what their hands have done”.
PSALM 11:6 “On the wicked he will rain fiery coals and burning sulfur; a scorching wind will be their lot.
Our battles and hatreds should not be directed towards anybody but rather towards Satan and his numerous demons”.
Our real enemies are Satan and his numerous demons. Our hatred should be directed against only them See EPHESIANS 6:10-18 “Finally, be strong in the Lord Put on the full armor of God, For our struggle is not against flesh and blood,Therefore put on the full armor of God, Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, Take the helmet of salvationAnd pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people.
